Our organic Darjeeling tea hails from the renowned Makaibari Tea Estate near the foothills of the Himalayan mountain range in Darjeeling, India. This is a second flush, super fine grade tea (SFTGFOP) producing a fuller flavor than the first flush. Darjeeling is not fully oxidized, giving it a thinner body than it’s Assam counterpart and with concentrated flowery notes. It is fantastic sweetened or unsweetened, and with or without milk. Enjoy!
This Darjeeling is a Super Fine Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe (SFTGFOP) grade tea. The tea leaves are picked small - for quality - and from the Camellia Sinensis China variety of plant. You’ll notice that it contains many tips that are long and wiry. Due to the fact that darjeeling is not fully oxidized, the color of the leaves range from a light black to dark bronze to a deep green.
We recommend steeping 1 to 1.5 teaspoons of Darjeeling tea in 8 oz of 175 to 185°F water for ~3 minutes. Be careful to not over-steep, which can cause the tea to become bitter or too astringent.
